Reverend Nathan & Courtney McConnell
God began our journey to Scotland in 2007 when we visited Aberdeen to 'spy out the land.' After years of prayer and prophetic words surrounding our call and passion for the nation of Scotland, we moved to Aberdeenshire in 2010 and served alongside Methlick Parish Church for one year. From 2011-2014, we were back in South Florida pastoring, where Nathan was a professor of Youth Ministry & New Testament at both Palm Beach Atlantic and Trinity International University (TEDS). In 2015 God began to tug the family back to Scotland through a call to serve Downfield Mains Church in Dundee. Sensing the Lord's leading and the open door, we have seen our hearts grow with passion for the city and believe God called us back to Scotland for 'such a time as this' to equip and empower the church to fulfil it's calling from Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20).
Nathan is working on a PhD at Aberdeen in Asylum Seeking and Christian Mission. He holds a ThM in Practical Theology and Christian Ethics from University of Aberdeen and a Masters in Biblical Studies from Trinity Theological Seminary and prior to Scotland was the minister of Lakeside Presbyterian Church and the director of Palm Beach County First Priority with a mission to unite the church to reach secondary schools with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As Minister at Downfield Mains the main role is to lead the ministry of the Word and prayer, cast vision for the future, encourage and equip other leaders, and serve as an caring ambassador of Downfield Mains to the whole church family and the greater Dundee community.
Along with the role as minister of Downfield Mains, Nathan is the chaplain of Downfield & Sidlaw View Primary schools, runs an internship programme for ministry students/young adults, worked with Syrian refugees, established a Cohort through the Highland Theological College and serves on the Church of Scotland Ministries Council.
Courtney and Nathan have been on this journey together with four beautiful daughters; Shanley (Oxford Uni), Faith (DJCAD), Tiarnan and Ellie (Academy). Our family enjoys reading, playing football, hiking, and traveling.
Courtney and Nathan have been married 23 years and have a passion to see people flourishing through an experience with the love of God.

LIFE VERSE: 1 PETER 3:15
"But in your hearts set Jesus as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."
